The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
